Changes in State-building Jared Baxter Period 2
The changes in China's state-building were mainly due to the changes of the dynasties. When the Han dynasty collasped China entered the Sui dynasty(589-907c.e). This reign was stopped when rebel leader Chang'an seized power and created the the Tang dynasty(618-907c.e). Finally China went through the Song dynasty(960-1279c.e) after the Tang's collaspe. During this time China considered itself the middle kingdom and sought to expand. China invaded Korea, Vietnam and tried to invade Japan but failed. Meanwhile in Japan changes and developments were happening just as they were in China. Japan realized the importance of centralized rule and went through the Nara period(710-794c.e) and the Heian period(794-1185c.e). But this was only temporary and Japan regressed back to decentralized rule during the Kamakura period(1185-1333c.e) and the Muramachi period(1336-1573c.e). During this time the power rested with the shoguns and samurai were polularly used. Korea's main change in state-building was the creation of the Silla dynasty to stop the Chinese invasion which ended in the Silla pledging loyalty to the Chinese. China also invaded Vietnam and even though the techniques were adopted China never controlled them.
